Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
It was great to see so many parents/ carers at our community drop in session this morning at school. The event was organised by one of our Governors - Jo Brownsword - along with Safina Jamal who is the local area co-ordinator for public health from Leicestershire County Council.
The session was to promote support and services available locally. We had the following support and advice services in school this morning promoting how they can help our community -
Go Learn Leicestershire
Health Watch Leicester
Life Links
Helping Hands
King's Centre
If you have any specific needs or requests please do email Jo on jbrownsword@thythornfield.leics.sch.uk or our Family Support Worker - Dawn Muddimer - on dmuddimer@thythornfield.leics.sch.uk
It was great to see so many children in their own clothes last Friday to celebrate Children in Need day 2023. Lots of children wore Pudsey ears and some even forgot to get dressed and had PJs and onesies on!
Thank you for working together to raise £132.92 for a great charity.
It was great to share our odd socks today - Monday 13th November - to start Anti-Bullying Week 2023 and embrace our differences. The theme of this year's week is 'Make some noise about bullying.' We launched with an assembly today to look at how we can all support each other here at Thythorn Field. We embrace and respect our differences as we are an 'Everyone's Welcome' school. This means we learn about and embrace the 9 protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010
Can you spot your socks?
During national recycling week, 16-22nd November, and the week after that, we ran a poster competition for new labels for our bins. Children had to design a sign for our recycling bins and our normal bins for the Eco Council.
We had lots of great entries which we will display on our Eco Council board in school. The winner for Key Stage 1 and EYFS was Lilley in Year 1 and the winner in Key Stage 2 was Eva in Year 3. Well done to all the entrants. The winners will receive their prize shortly!
Please find below our PowerPoint for parents that we shared at the Read to Write morning with parents and carers who could join us. It shares our new rules and behaviour system and tells you all about our rewards system and houses.
It was great to have so many parents and carers come and share an English session with us on Thursday morning. The children were very excited to share their learning.
It has been a close race this half term between all our houses. The lead has changed several times. Our overall winners this half term were Wan house with a total of 1723 house points. In second place were Lineker house with 1585 points. Attenborough house were third with 1568 points and Townsend house were fourth with 1568 points. Well done to all children. The points start again when we return!
The winning house will have a non-uniform day on the first Friday back after half term - details to follow.
Thank you to all the parents/carers/families who helped us celebrate Harvest today with our Key Stage One and Key Stage Two celebrations. The children all sang and performed brilliantly and we are very proud of them. Thank you for the kind donations. They will be going to Wigston Magna children's and family centre.
It was all change on Friday as Wan house won last week. They went from 4th to 1st in a week. House points really do make a difference to your team!
Running totals so far are - Townsend (last week's winners) 345, Attenborough 377, Lineker 406 and the new leaders Wan 412.
All our children now have a house to collect house points for. The first week back was really close and we will keep a running total and add each week's winners for a half term total. Our first totals are very close as we had a great first week in school. Our children showed how they are 'Ready, Respectful and Safe' and also showed how to be a Resilience Ranger returning to school.
The first totals are:
Townsend and Lineker house 123 points, Wan house 113 points and Attenborough house 108 points.
