ENGLISH - Our focus for the next couple weeks will be reading and biography writing about The Tudor Kings and Queens. We will also gather understanding of The Tudor time period, to build up good knowledge of that time.

To start of today, I would like you to follow the link below and read the section about HENRY VIII reign. You can read other sections too, but his is particularly important.

(Remember VIII is Roman Numerals for the number.... you tell me!)

TASK - Write down 5 important FACTs about Henry VIII

https://www.dkfindout.com/uk/history/tudors/

King Henry VIII | Compilation | Horrible Histories

If you would like to watch this Horrible Histories compilation, it will be give you a humorous (funny) idea of Henry VIII

TOPIC - In History, we study something called 'chronology' - this means timeline - when a period of History took place. We are part of History; as each minute passes by, it becomes history! In Year 3 we have studied Prehistoric and early settlement times:-

The Stone Age

The Bronze Age

The Iron Age

The Romans

Do you remember those too year 4?

Year 4 have studied

The Ancient Egyptians

The Vikings and Anglo-Saxons

The Indus Valley

See if you can find all of these History periods on the timeline below:-

LOOK - do you notice how close in time THE TUDORS are to today compared with The IRON AGE?

Which is the oldest age on this timeline?

Which periods of time are MISSING? (Hint - we have studied them!) Where would they fit on the timeline?

TASK - I would like you to create a timeline that includes all the time periods we have studied and also some of the others shown above. I would especially like you to include THE TUDORS as this is the period in history we will be focusing on. It doesn't have to be horizontal - you could write and draw it vertically if you prefer.

To make your timeline interesting, you can include illustrations that are linked to each time period. Please email me your timelines when you have finished! yes

FRENCH πŸ₯ - Before half term, Year 3 started looking at French learning. This is the same powerpoint from before half term, but it will be good to recap and then we will carry on next week with new learning. Try to say the words aloud and listen to how to pronounce it by clicking on the sound button.

STORY TIME

I have been reading 'Danny the Champion of the World' to year 3. I will continue with this book, we are on Chapter 7. Year 4 to catch up, you will need to listen to each day's audio from 04/05/20 on the year 3 page. It won't take you too long to catch up!
