If you click on the link below you will find a list of the Year 1 and Year 2 common exception words. These are words that the children should be able to read and spell by the end of each year. They do not always follow letter patterns and phonics so just have to be learnt. It would be very helpful to the children to work through the Year 1 words, maybe by taking a group of words each week and practise spelling them and ensuring that they can be read. If your child can spell and read all the words then you could start to take a look at the Year 2 words.
Ask your child to have a go at writing ar words.
Remember to segment the words into the separate sounds when spelling.

How many ee words can you think of?
Dictate some sentences with ee words. Say the sentence a few times slowly and clearly. Get your child to repeat it after you and to try and hold it in their head. You could also sound talk the ar words for your child. Encourage capitals and full stops.
I am going to the park.
My car is green.
I am going to see the cow on the farm.
Reading: Make sure you read a book today or have a grown-up read you a story. If you have read all your reading books from school, you can read some of the phonetically decodable comics online.These can be found at www.phonicsplaycomics.co.uk.
