►Reading

Please read with your child for 20 minutes each day. This could be a story book which you read, a phonics book which they read or a mixture of the two.

Oxford Owl have a library of free books which can be read on a phone or tablet.

Follow the link below and sign up yourself. You can then access a variety of books which are age-appropriate. Start on age 3-4 (Oxford Level 1) and work your way through as your child gets more confident.

►Phonics

Today we are going to be continuing our revision of the phonics which we have been learning recently.

Blue Challenge: go to the Blue an Green website below and click on initial sounds. Ask your child to identify the initial sounds for each picture and then click on the correct letter. Repeat the game a few times until they are confident.

Green challenge: go to the Blue and Green website below and click on Middle sounds. Ask your child to identify the middle sound in the word by sounding it out and then click on the correct letter. Once they have finished this game, go back to the start of the game and play again but with End sounds.

Purple challenge: go to the Purple website below, click on English Games and then Forest Phonics. Click on the sh/ch sound. Ask your child to spell out the word that is called out and place the tiles in order.

►Maths

Today we are going to be working on recognising numbers.

Watch the video below about counting to 20 and then complete one of the following activities.

Blue challenge: write down numbers from 0-5 on pieces of paper. Ask your child to place the correct amount of items or toys on each one. They could also draw the correct amount of spots next to each number.

Green challenge: write down numbers from 0-10 on pieces of paper. Ask your child to place the correct amount of items or toys on each one. They could also draw the correct amount of spots next to each number.

Purple challenge: write down numbers from 0-20 on pieces of paper. Ask your child to place the correct amount of items or toys on each one. They could also draw the correct amount of spots next to each number.

Extra challenge: if your child completes the purple challenge confidently, watch the second video and backwards from 20-0 together.

Counting Down From Twenty Song

►Topic

Today we are going to be tasting fruit and using adjectives to describe how they taste.

Provide your child with a variety of different fruits to try and ask them to eat them in turn.

You could use fruits from the Handa's Surprise story or a selection that you have chosen yourself.

Write down what you child says when trying each fruit and encourage them to use adjectives to describe each piece of fruit.

Ask them if they enjoyed each piece and ask them why.

When you have finished the tasting, ask your child to say which piece of fruit they liked best and why.
