> ENGLISH - writing instructions

OH NO! The aliens have landed....we saw them coming yesterday and now they're here....!!!

But wait.... it's ok.... they are friendly!

They found Pioneer 10 and followed the map on the picture and have travelled from their far away planet in a far away galaxy to Earth and they want to learn all about us!

HELLO EARTHLING MY NAME IS GNOG. I COME FROM THE PLANET ZAXON. MY JOB ON THIS MISSION IS TO RESEARCH EARTH FOOD AND DRINK. CAN YOU HELP ME UNDERSTAND?

I think we can help Gnog.

Let's write him a set of clear instructions for how to:

  • Make a sandwich

Watch the videos below for some tips on writing instructions:

Your challenge is to write a clear, easy to follow set of instructions for Gnog. Write them in your exercise book at the English end.

  • Make sure that you write each step in detail
  • Do not assume Gnog knows something - explain it to him
  • Use time conjunctions such as: first, next, meanwhile, following, finally

When you have written your instructions give them to a grown-up.... ask them to pretend to be Gnog and to follow EXACTLY your instructions..... did they work?

Grown-ups ... there is a video below for you to help you TEST the instructions fully laugh
