New arrivals!
Fri 19 Apr 2024It has been a very exciting week down in the EYFS classroom. We had 10 eggs arrive and now we have 10 healthy little chicks! The children are very excited by them and they are becoming little celebrities. Fred, Max, Lulu and friends are making a big impact!

Piano concert
Fri 22 Mar 2024We were so proud of how far our Thythorn pianists have come this year! We were treated to some amazing performances in assembly on Wednesday morning. Mr White works incredibly hard with our children and they work so hard! Great musicians! #ProudtobeThythorn

Bethel church visit
Fri 15 Mar 2024This week, Year 5 and 6 visited Bethel church. They learnt about some stories from Christianity and took part in food tasting sessions, quizzes and dressing up - which they really enjoyed! The staff at the church praised them for being so respectful and attentive. They were definitely following our Thythorn values of Ready, Respectful and Safe and were also being the best version of themselves!

World Book Day 2024
Fri 08 Mar 2024It was great to celebrate World Book Day yesterday. The children came in comfy PJs, onesies or a character costume. They talked a lot about their favourite books! Mrs Brewster, our Phonics and English lead, from our EYFS class led an assembly. At the end of the day, teachers all swapped classrooms and read to the children. Please do take your child to exchange their World Book Day token for the £1 book. There are lots of age appropriate choices to choose from!

Move it March!
Fri 08 Mar 2024We are excited to be taking part in 'Move it March' with the Leicestershire Schools Partnership. Mr Khan, came to take an assembly to launch it with us and he brought along a very special guest - Active Anita! We want all children to move as much as they can in March and record it on their Move it March sheets. There will be class winners, school winners and area winners. We are taking part for Oadby and Wigston Wolves.

Book winners!
Tue 27 Feb 2024We received some really great post yesterday! We won a competition where the prize was a signed copy of a new book for every member of Year 6. Thank you to the author, Kimberly Whittam, for the generous gift of 'Quiet Storm'

Study Buddy session
Sun 18 Feb 2024On Friday afternoon, we started a new session that will take place once a half term. Children from Year 1 - 6 got together to share their work and their books. Each session, children will share a different book from History to Maths. It was great to see the children talking about their learning and showing pride in their work!

House winners Spring term 1
Sun 18 Feb 2024It has been a really close competition this half term and as we went into the final week there were only 4 points between the top two houses! Total points for this half term were - Attenborough house 1359 points, Lineker house 1374 points, Townsend house 1645 points and Wan house 1593 points. Well done to Townsend house. They will have a non-uniform day on the first Friday after half term - Friday 8th March.

My Voice Matters
Wed 14 Feb 2024We had a great response to the Children's Mental Health Week Competition. All of the entries were truly amazing with a variety of photos, drawings and explanations. We have 8 wellbeing ambassadors from Year 5 and 6 who judged the entries. The winner for EYFS/KS1 was Emmie in EYFS and, coincidentally, her brother Charlie won the KS2 prize. Well done to everyone who entered!

New books!
Mon 12 Feb 2024I shared new books with the children in assembly today. We were lucky enough to win a signed copy of Time Travelling with a Hamster and Time Travelling with a Tortoise by Ross Welford. There was a rush to see who could read them first!
