Tuesday 24th March

Good morning Year 4!

I hope that you are all well and ready to learn!

Thank you to all of you who have emailed me already, I will be posting pictures at the bottom of the page to show your friends what you've been up to during this time.

Today we have lots of learning to do;

Maths - Times table rock stars / multiplying using a formal method

English - Plan a newspaper report about the discovery of Tutankhamun

NowPressPlay - Ancient Egypt

Topic - Activity packs

I hope that you enjoy the learning, please remember to start your day with the Joe Wicks PE lesson and end it with a diary entry about home learning.

For example, mine today would say

'Dear diary,

Today was rather peculiar, I arrived at school as normal to find that there was only 3 cars in the car park (and it was 8am!), I arrived in school and learnt that there would be far fewer children in school than we originally anticipated. But I am glad that I had a lot to do and heard from so many parents keen to share what their child/children have been up to!'

English

Today I would like you to plan a newspaper report for the discovery of Tutankhmun's Tomb.

The best way to show this will be using the different subheading on a mindmap. The questions to consider include;

 - What was discovered?

- Where and how was it discovered?

- When did this event take place?

- Recount the events that lead to this discovery in detail and in chronological order

- Did you interview someone/how were they involved in the event and what did they have to say?

- What difference has this discovery made/what does it tell us?

I have included a link to a BBC Bitesize video about 'Who was Tutankhamun?' (https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zg87xnb/articles/zvmkhbk/) to help you learn more about him (remember you read about the discovery of him tomb in the reading comprehension yesterday!)

I will also attach a copy of an example of a newspaper report to help you understand the features and what you will be expected to produce when you write your newspaper report.

Maths

For Maths today, I would like you to begin by spending at least 10 minutes on times table rocks stars, then I would like you to carefully read and complete the 'NUMBER – Multiplication and division ‘Recall and use multiplication and division facts for the 6, 7, 9, 11 and 12 times tables’ page 75. It is important for you to read each question carefully and make sure that you use your knowledge of times tables to help you to answer these questions.

I would then like you to watch the video which explains the grid method and column method for multiplication, this will help you to use your chosen method for multiplying the questions below.

Please choose which option you would like to complete.

Option 1

1. 39 x 9 =

2. 47 x 8 =

3. 84 x 9 =

4. 76 x 7 =

5. 89 x 7 =

Option 2

1. 94 x 8 =

2. 141 x 3 =

3. 187 x 8 =

4. 314 x 7 =

5. 486 x 9 =
