► SEESAW TIP OF THE DAY
Well done for taking yesterday's tip on board - it is so much better getting all the photos/drawings/videos relating to one piece of work as one Journal entry. Thank you. If you didn't see it... look at Monday.

Today - aim to add one post to your Journal for each piece of work you do (each post may contain several pics of that work). laugh

► TUESDAY'S TIMETABLE

Good Morning Year 1 smiley

I hope you all had a fabulous day yesterday and managed to complete some super work with your grown-ups. I just wanted to mention, I absolutely loved to see the videos and pictures of you all yesterday via SEESAW.

The topic of today's zoom meeting is 'help me' it is all about phonics. If you need help with a particular sound or would like a sound recap please pop along for some help between 11 and 11.45. I will let you in one at a time so when you arrive you may be placed in a waiting room but I will let you in when I can. The link for the meeting is the same one from last Tuesday so please find this in your SEESAW announcements. Rememebr if you do not need help with phonics you do not need to attend, it is not compulsary smiley

►EXPRESS YOURSELF! - ART

EXPRESS YOURSELF!! - As part of Children's Mental Health week, I though it would be good to spend some time carrying out the challenge as explained in the video below.

Task - Can you create a picture of something you would enjoy wearing that expresses who you are as an individual. It could be a hat, jumper, a badge or if you are feeling really creative it could be a full outfit. Remember it doesn't have to be perfect, it is a quick expressive drawing.

► PHONICS

In the video below Miss Martin and George are talking you through a phonics lesson just like the ones we have in school. In the video Miss Martin and George will introduce you to a new phase 5 sound each day and re-cap the phase 3 and 4 flashcards. For the lesson you will need either a whiteboard and pen or a piece of paper and a pen or pencil. Enjoy! smiley

► ENGLISH
Today In English we are going to be thinking about the sequencing we did yesterday for the story 'The Train Ride' and make a story map for the story today. Below is the Youtube video from yesterday to refresh your brains of the story and a video of Miss Martin explaining the task to you.

► MATHS

BLUE WORK - back 1 step challenge

GREEN WORK - regular challenge

PURPLE WORK - forward 1 step challenge

These levels of differentiation, for some pieces of learning, will ensure that your child can access teaching and learning that is pitched correctly for them. If you are not sure which colour to do then please email your teacher.

►SCIENCE

Today in science we are going to be looking at materials and the effects that they have upon how fast and far a train will travel down a hill (ramp). Please see the below document for the instructions. This experiment can be done with anything you have at home and you can record the results however you wish to. If you do not have any small toy wooden trains you can do this experiment with small cars instead.

You could take pictures of the results, draw a table and write them down or something else creative. Have fun and investigate! Don't forget to measure which is best! smiley

► QUIET READING

On a Tuesday afternoon, we usually take some time to allow the children some quiet reading time where they can choose to read any book they wish from the classroom or their own school reading books. Whilst this is happening the staff will change their reading books. Please allow your child some time this afternoon to sit quietly and enjoy a book they wish to read independently.

If you have read all your reading books from school, you can read some phonetically decodable comics online. These can be found at Decodable comics (phonicsplaycomics.co.uk) or you could access the Oxford Owl website which is an ebook library where you can choose from the ages 4 - 7 or 7 - 9 for reading. You can log in by :

username  : best

password : class

Click here to take you to the website : Oxford Owl for School and Home

If you would like to change your school reading books, please email Miss Martin and we can arrange a day and time that is suitable to come and drop your old books off and to collect some new ones.
