►GRAMMAR BITE

Contractions revisited - embed that learning - grammar mastery!

Today we have two puzzles: tarsia puzzles!

Print off, or make your own on paper.

Cut them up, then mix up the pieces and connect the contracted word with the full version of the word, and see what patterns and shapes you make. What is the most unusual shape you can make? Have you matched the correct contraction with the whole words?

Word clarification - definition:

Basically a tarsia is a simple yet complex jigsaw puzzle that pupils have to solve.

They do it by having to match up sides of triangles so they correspond with another one.

►ENGLISH

Inferential reading skills: inference - looking for hidden meaning on the page. What is suggested? What can you deduce and work out?

Year 6 - who likes sports activities?

I thought so - so many of you are heavily into your sports!

We would like you to take part in a sporty challenge

The challenge will run from Tuesday 23rd February - Wednesday 24th March and results will be finalised before the Easter break. Children will be given an Activity Tracker where they can colour an icon to show each 20 minutes of activity completed. Activities may be walking, running, virtual workouts, PE lessons or any exercise that requires physical exertion.

There are 48 icons to complete in total and the following milestones and points will be rewarded, contributing to their Quad Cup score:

6 hours - Bronze Award = 1 point

10 hours - Silver Award = 3 points

16 hours - Gold Award = 5 points

If Gold is achieved, participants become a ‘Oadby & Wigston Wolves Active Champion' and will be entered into a prize draw to win one of the first ever ‘Oadby & Wigston Wolves Active Champion T Shirts' to be given away.
