ENGLISH - Last week we made an excellent start on learning about the Rainforests. We explored:-
Today we will read and describe the location of Rainforests in the World.
Do you remember the lesson where we talked about THE EQUATOR? That day, we thought about how warm it always is near The Equator because its always nearer to THE SUN.
Tropical rainforests are found between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, 23.5° north and south of the equator.
Please read the following about where Rainforests are:-
Now write about each of the 3 types of Rainforest e.g. Tropical,...
Write 2 sentences for each one.
BONUS CHALLENGE!
Can you find out the name of a Rainforest for each type e.g. Tropical = ????
Save the work you have done (even if it is just notes). We will be creating an information leaflet and you will need all your great work so far!
PLANTS - What does a plant need to live?
Last week we explored the PARTS of a plant.
There are four main parts - can you remember them?
Refresh your memory with this....

This week, we will move onto what a plant needs to live.
Before watching the next video, write down your 'good guess' of what a plant needs to live....
Done?

Did you hear the special word for good plant growth?
Nutrients, CO2, photosynthesis
Now reread these sentences:-
Plants need air, light, warmth, water and nutrients to be healthy.
If they are healthy, they can continue making their own food through photosynthesis.
Experiment time!
1. You need to choose a plant and either draw it or take a photo of it
2. Over the next 6 days I want you to stop it from having any light! See my example....
Recording your experiment
In KS2 we learn to investigate in science and record our findings carefully.
On a piece of paper, write up the set up for your investigation. Each day, you need to look at the 2 plants and jot down your observations (what you can see!)
