If you click on the link below you will find a list of the Year 1 and Year 2 common exception words. These are words that the children should be able to read and spell by the end of each year. They do not always follow letter patterns and phonics so just have to be learnt. It would be very helpful to the children to work through the Year 1 words, maybe by taking a group of words each week and practise spelling them and ensuring that they can be read.
If your child can spell and read all the words then you could start to take a look at the Year 2 words.

Reading: Make sure you read a book today or have a grown-up read you a story. If you have read all your reading books from school, you can read some of the phonetically decodable comics online. These can be found at www.phonicsplaycomics.co.uk.
Try and remember to record all of your reading in your diary so that we can see how much reading you have done when we come back to school. I can't wait to see how much reading you have done at home!
