Today we are looking at different Christmas Traditions around the world.
Last week we started making an electrical safety leaflet on Purple Mash.
This week I would like you to make sure it is completed.
Remember you can look at the Switched on kids website for help
Listen to the story of 'The boy who fell off the Mayflower'
Look at the pictures below, I want you to write down
-> What could be seen during the storm
-> What they might have felt
-> How the passengers might have felt
Now, take those sentences and add adjectives to make some really descriptive phrases.
I've started my example for you... If you look carefully you will see lots of adjectives, verbs and adverbs that I have included in my starter.
It was calm and cool on the water, the ship gently swayed over the waves.
Suddenly there was a call, 'Storm ahead! Tie everything down!', the sailors ran to the now damp deck, moving rapidly around.
Hastily holding on to anything to stay up as the waves became more violent.
This is our last week focusing on Electricity
I've made some questions to test how much you can remember from all of your science lessons.
Remember you have done lots of practical lessons and learnt a lot through discussions aswell.
We are going to take the writing from yesterday to create a description.
Success criteria;
Take the sentences from yesterday to begin your own description.
Furious, icy water with high-speed wind pushed against the walls of the creaking, old ship.
Slowly, the water trickled over the huddled passengers’ heads.
Quickly, the captain hoarsely shouted rapid instructions at his nervous crew.
I made it into this;
There was a low buzz as the women and children settled for the night, the boat moaned as the waves pushed against the hull. Suddenly, a shadowy, furious clouds came rumbling over. There was a sudden shift in the boat. Quickly, the captain hoarsely shouted rapid instructions at his nervous crew. The storm came fast and ferocious. Sound came from all areas of the ship, the children cried out in disbelief as the groaning, scraping boat with wooden beams moved around them. Slowly, the water trickled over the huddled passengers’ heads.
Create your own impression of the ship that the people on the Mayflower may have gone on, sketch it carefully and if you can colour it in :)
I know you can't be in school to enjoy the decoration day, so I have some very specific instructions.
Get creative!
Make your own Christmas themed ideas based on what you have at home!
Candy canes out of paper
An angel or wreathe using a paper plate
Ask a grown up to help you to make some cookies
I've added some ideas below to help
This afternoon I want you to put some Christmas music on, have a little dance and then snuggle up for a film. Find the best CHRISTMAS themed film of ALL TIME.
