Science

Today our science work is all about finding out which materials we can bend , stretch , twist and squash. Click on the link below to watch a short video about bending , stretching, twisting and squashing. You will also need a sock to test how you can change its shape.

After watching and doing the sock test (instructions are below the video) see if you can investigate some different objects to see if they can be changed by bending , stretching , twisting and squashing. Here are some ideas of things that you could test , tin foil , elstic band , paper clip , plasic bottle , cling film , tissue , paper , wool , plasticine , marshmallow , haribo sweet etc....

Year 1 and 2 - you should be able to record your results in a table like this.

Amazing Australia

This week we are going to learn about some of the famous landmarks  in Australia. Today we are going to find out about The Great Barrier Reef.

Some interesting facts

  • The Great Barrier reef is the largest reef in the world
  • The Great Barrier Reef is larger than the entire country of Italy put together
  • Astronauts can see the Great Barrier Reef from the moon
  • The Great Barrier Reef is the size of about 70 million football fields!
  • Recycling is a great way to help places like the Great Barrier Reef stay beautiful and its fish stay healthy
  • Over 1500 kinds of fish live in the Great Barrier reef. The smallest fish is called the Stout Infant Fish which is only 7 millimetres long, and the biggest is the whale shark which can grow up to 12 metres long!
