Good morning Year 5
Well it was very calming yesterday, working and watching the flurries of snow. I hope you got outside, stretched your legs and got some fresh air? Not sure it was enough for a snowman though.
Another exciting day is ahead of us - day 2 of our cave elf preparation work and another Science experiment (I think I'd like to come up with a scientist alter ego).

► MORNING WORK
Your task this morning is to choose 5 words and put them into sentences. Then have fun practising the words using a variety of ways, like we do in the classroom, such as pyramid words, one letter/one colour and drawing the shape of the word. I've included a picture of some of the games we do to help you.

Today's lesson is a little different, it is an activity or practical lesson. You will need a sheet of paper and a pair of scissors. I have recorded a video demonstrating and explaining the activity. Please take some photos or a video of you using your fraction strips and upload it onto Seesaw.

Today is a national day to mark and gain greater understanding on using the internet in a safe and responsible manner.
Safer Internet Day 2021 will be celebrated in the UK with the theme:
An internet we trust: exploring reliability in the online world.
I would like you to watch the live lesson, at 11am, from BBC TEACH (on the link below) and complete the worksheet afterwards to demonstrate your understanding of the topics discussed. We will follow up these activities in our ICT lesson on Friday.

Day 2 of our build up work to writing an information text about a new type of cave elf or sprite. Please then watch my video for today explaining Tuesday's activities and the sheets for today are on the link below. Please make sure you are keeping all the work you do each day (either in Seesaw or on paper) as this will all inform your final piece of writing. Today begins with a creative sentence writing activity and then we learn about the structure of an information text.
