Good morning Year 1 laugh

 

I hope you all had a fabulous day yesterday and managed to complete some super work with your grown-ups. Your Maths challenges are blowing me away, it is lovely to see how much you are pushing yourselves and challenging yourselves whilst at home! Keep up the great work! yes

 

Zoom meeting today 10 - 10.45am

As today is World Book Day, this will be a reading focused meeting, come along and share your reading book with me and your friends. This will be a group session where I will let you in and you can listen to eachother read and take it in turns to read to me and show me how amazing your reading is now! I can't wait to hear your fabulous reading! You could even come dressed as your favourite book character or in a costume of your choice if you wanted to. It does not have to be your school reading book you read, it could be your favourite story you have at home. I will even read to you a story (or 2) if we have time. 

 

                                                                   

 

As today is World book day, I thought it might be lovely to have a few activities avaliable for you to complete if you wanted to. I would hoever, really love it if as many of you as possible entered our Masked reader competition. The details of this can be found here : WEEK 1/3 | Thythorn Field Community Primary School

 

A few of today's activities below include : designing your own mask (which could help with the above mentioned challenge) , designing a book mark, a colouring page and a scavenger hunt. I can't wait to see the things you do today! laugh

► PHONICS

In the video below Miss Martin and George are talking you through a phonics lesson just like the ones we have in school. In the video Miss Martin and George will introduce you to a new phase 5 sound each day and re-cap the phase 3 and 4 flashcards. For the lesson you will need either a whiteboard and pen or a piece of paper an a pen or pencil. Enjoy! yes

► PE

Usually on a Thursday morning you would have PE with Mr Revan, so today we are going to be doing some PE at home. This term we are going to be trying something a little bit different, we are going to be taking part in the Big Moves Fundamental Movement Project. Each week there will be a different series of movements and activities. Please see the below attached letter to explain the purpose of this project.

 

Each week there will be a youtube video explaining the movements to you and also an activity card explaining the activities to you.

► ENGLISH

Today in English using the plan you made yesterday and all the interesting facts you found out, we are going to start writing a non-chronological report about a hot air balloon

 

This is your report so other than the title being 'Hot air balloons' and the pictures being of things related to hot air balloons you can add any sub headings or information you choose. Today I would like you to only complete these sections from the worksheet: 

                                                

                                                       

 

emember to make it interesting for the reader and full of great facts. Also, remember to use:

                                                          

                                                       

 

Below is the template for a non-chronological report so you don't have to worry about drawing sections and boxes onto your page. Miss Martin has alos made a presentation reminding you of the important features of a non-chronological report so make sure you have a look so you include those in your writing. ► ART AND DESIGN 

If your ballon wasn't dry yesterday and it is now, you can apply your design that you designed yesterday to your paper mache.

 

Here's how to perpeare your balloon and apply your design, please watch Miss Martin's video below.

If your balloon was dry yesterday and you applied your design and the paint or design is dry, here's the final step of creating your paper mache hot air balloon. Today you are going to attach your basket to the paper mache balloon you have made.

 

You will need:

  • A small pot or basket of some kind 
  • string 
  • sellotape or a stapler
