Well done to all our children - you were definitely trying to be the best version of you!
On Friday afternoon, we had a fabulous time as the whole school took part in our sponsored colour dash! Lots of fun was had and lots of money raised for the children's holiday centre Leicester. The children were amazing and real resilience rangers! Thank you to the adults who took part with great enthusiasm and to all our Thythorn community for your generous sponsorship. Hopefully we will have raised enough for whole school prizes for every child who joined in by running or supporting and cheering them on.
Thank you for all the suggestions from our whole school community for house names. We had lots of great ideas. We took the 3 most popular to school council who decided on the following -
David Attenborough house
Gary Linekar house
Sue Townsend house
Gok Wan house
Children will be placed in a house from the autumn term. Siblings will be in the same house. House points will be earned in many ways. It may be for good behaviour or from an inter house competition. Weekly totals will be displayed in assembly and will be on the website. There will be a winning house each half term.
Thank you again for all the excellent ideas! The other suggestions that went to the school council were Leicestershire sporting teams and Leicestershire parks.
On Wednesday 21st June team Thythorn played rounders against lots of other schools in Leicestershire at Thomas Estley Community College in Broughton Astley. The sun shone and we had a great time. #ProudToBeThythorn
This week the Friends of Thythorn have had a 'someone' special sale across school. Year 6 children have run the sale and children have had the chance to buy a gift for someone for this weekend. No photos as we don't want to spoil the surprise! Thank you to the Friends of Thythorn (FOTs) and the Year 6 volunteers. Thanks as always for your support for our school.
We are excited to be starting up an Eco club to help improve our environment and energy use at school. We had our first meeting on Tuesday lunchtime and will meet every Tuesday lunch time. We will be reviewing how eco friendly we are and also making an action plan ready for the Autumn term. We aim to get a green flag award from eco schools by the summer term 2024
