Reading as much as possible (even just 5 minutes a day if that is all you can manage) with your child and recording it in their reading diary.

Use Times Tables Rock Stars or other activities to help your child learn their times tables.

Use educational games like Spelling Frame to support core skills.

Revise and practise spelling the 5 weekly common exception words for years 3 & 4.

Complete optional homework to support a love of learning smiley

Class Connections

Link to charity work or other connections made with local area.

Year 3 are currently taking part in the Linking schools project. This is where we link with a school that is totally different to our own. The school we are linked with is called Mayflower Primary school, and the children are also in year 3.

Autumn term

In the Autumn term as Part of this learning the children have learnt alot about the children in 3KW. They have created 'hello' bunting for the other class with their name and one thing they like written on them and have also created 'identity circles' where they drew a picture of themselves in the middle and then wrote things around the outside which helped to make up their identity. We also took part in a bonus session for link school with Joseph Coelho, Children’s Laureate where they listened to his poetry and took part in interactive games.  We also attempted a zoom call with the children in class 3kw, but it was cancelled due to unforseen circumstances so this has been resheduled for the Spring term.

Spring Term

At the end of Spring term 1 the children had their long awaited  zoom call with the children in class 3kw. They were able to play some games and observe the similarities and differences between their answers and learnt together how to sign 'see you later' to eachother in BSL.
