For your settling in activity this morning, and to get your brain school-shape, let's begin with some grammar work.
We are up to Chapter 11 now in the book Goodnight Mister Tom.
Today, I would like you to write a letter home.
Pretend you are the evacuee Willie, writing home to his Mum in London.
Remember, Willie is starting to enjoy the countryside now and has made some friends e.g. Zach. He is learning new things and experiencing lots of different things that he just didn't even know existed.
He is developing a warm and caring relationship with Mister Tom, who at first was quite grumpy but is now developing a good relationship with Willie.
What information are you going to share with Mum?
Think about the layout and format of a letter and include informal language.
It's break time!
Have 20 minutes of exercise, fresh air, relaxation and a snack if you have one.
Go to the toilet, wash your hands and then return ready to learn.
Complete any of the FAST FINISHER questions not achieved yesterday.
It's lunchtime already!
I hope you are having something healthy, nutritious and tasty!
STOP, DROP and READ:
30 minutes of reading by an adult: demonstrating good practice and modelling fluency, pace and expression. Continue to read a little more of Goodnight Mister Tom.
This afternoon you usually have Art with Mrs Hall and PE with Mr Pick.
Children in school will carry out the activities Mrs Hall has planned.
We are going to continue with sketching, drawing and shading.
Today I would like you to have a go something a little more technical and possibly tricky!
It is quite hard to draw in 3D but I would like you to explore 'isometric' drawing.
Is a drawing method which shows projection or perspective, with shapes which have equal dimension. (It also has a meaning related to muscles; tension and muscle actions, but this is not what we are looking at today!)
So let's find out a little more about it:
Let's explore the alphabet - look at the angles used in these letter shapes.
Which direction do the lines move towards?
Are they all at the same angle?
You'll need a ruler and a sharp pencil - possibly a rubber!
Have a go - relax and enjoy this drawing activity.
Play some relaxing music in the background - have fun!
IF YOU ARE LIKELY/EXPECTING TO BE ABSENT ON FRIDAY, PLEASE COULD YOU ARRANGE FOR YOUR ADULT TO COLLECT AN ACTIVITY PACK FROM THE SCHOOL RECEPTION ON, OR AFTER, THURSDAY AFTERNOON SO THAT YOU CAN COMPLETE THE CHRISTMAS ACTIVITIES WE ARE COMPLETING IN SCHOOL.
(Needed for Friday afternoon)
