MATHS

Warm-up: maths starters - get your brain number smart, maths smart!

Main Maths Task:

Understanding percentages

It's break time!

Have 20 minutes of exercise, fresh air, relaxation and a snack if you have one.

Go to the toilet, wash your hands and then return ready to learn.

STOP, DROP and READ:

20 - 30 minutes of reading by an adult, or to an adult: demonstrating good practice and modelling fluency, pace and expression.

Time yourself - 10min word work and spelling puzzle - can you make the letters morph into a new word AND make it fit with the last word? If not, where might you need to adjust one or two letters?

Spelling Investigation and Explore: Hyphens

You will need a dictionary!

Hyphens: are used to avoid confusion, or ambiguity, when reading a word  e.g. is it reenter or re-enter?

Also if the same vowel is used at the end of a prefix AND at the beginning of the stem word - as above.

Re - enter there would usually be a hyphen used.

They are also used to join two words which sound as if they are one word e.g. kind-hearted, and in-depth.

Can you test the hypothesis: hyphens can be used to clarify meaning.

Used the table of words and see if you can make any new hyphenated words.

You may be able to think of some others with different prefixes, different first or last words.

Create a list.

Place the words in the 'TRUE,' 'FALSE' or sometimes grid.

you can use a dictionary to help you read some words you may not of thought of before BUT it is not easy to locate hyphenated words in a dictionary - why is this?

It's lunchtime already!
I hope you are having something healthy, nutritious and tasty!

ART:

Who is Georgia O'Keeffe?

Some background information.

Let's learn a little more about her:

ANSWERS:

One of my most favourite flowers is the 'oriental poppy' in a deep coral pink.

A similar one is included in the information slideshow below.

Now you know who Georgia O'Keeffe is and a little bit about her art work - let's get creative!

Or, if you don't have an egg box and paint supplies at home, how about a sketching activity?

PE: with Mr Pick: Football

Today is footwork skills.

Here's a combination of soccer skills: passing, dribbling, and ball control.

You have one minute to pass a soccer ball (sock ball) into a target.
