Home-learners:

Are you ready to learn?

Have you had your breakfast, washed your hands and brushed your teeth?

Go to the bathroom and after that get yourself a drink.

Make sure you have pen and paper, possibly a dictionary to hand if you have one at home, and now do your home register!   Is everybody there?

ENGLISH:

ALL: read your current school reading book for 20 minutes or read the next chapter of Goodnight Mister Tom

Use one of the class copies of the book and/or share/read as a whole class on the IWB using the link below - show your adult how we do TAG reading. Don't forget to create those deeper, two-step questions to ask the reader! wink

ALL: Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling:

Brush up on the basics. From evidence in your books and also the recent assessments, we need to secure some previous learning.

We have already learnt about the basics of adjectives, adverbs, relative clauses and pronouns.

But what is a relative pronoun? You could use your blue CGP GPS book to support your knowledge.

Copy the sentences into your books and complete the answers as applicable.

You may wish to print off the slides to have a copy to share one between two on the table.

Fast Finishers:

I'm not sure how far you got with the recent reading questions to interrogate the text and check your comprehension. Work your way through the last two sets of questions. Continue from the last question you did in your books. Please record in your Fiction Books today wink

I've added session 1 as well, in case any children have been away and have now returned to school.

It's break time!

Have 20 minutes of exercise, fresh air, relaxation and a snack if you have one.

30 minutes of reading by an adult: demonstrating good practice and modelling fluency, pace and expression. Continue to read a little more of Goodnight Mister Tom.

HISTORY:

We have looked at mapping: countries and how Adolf Hitler took over, and lost, many countries.

You have looked and labelled the countries involved in The Great War (4 year war - World War I) and World War II and where they are in relation to Great Britain. Today, I would like you to watch the film clip below and then try to make an Anderson Shelter.

 

Most shelters were underground, some were half underground with a mound of soil and turf used to strengthen the roof and camouflage it, and some stood above the ground like the one in the film clip.
