Good Morning Year 6!

Sadly I am not in school today: I have COVID again!

8:40 - 9:05

This morning, for your settling in activity, please could you read your class reader: Holes - shared reading.

This week we are going to complete the in-school assessments.

How expertly can you re-arrange the tables and put up the screens to protect your work?

25%ers - you know who you are - don't forget you have a little longer to complete your assessments.

Everyone can ask an adult to read every question to them for GPS and Maths, if needed, but not for the reading paper.

9:05 - 10:15

In the first session, we are going to complete the Spelling and then the GPS papers.

Your adult will explain the instructions to you.

10:20 - 10:40

It's break time already!

Enjoy the sunshine - and hopefully being allowed on the field again today.

How wonderful to have all of that space again!

Can you run 4 laps of the field?

4 laps, keeping to the edges is close to a mile.

Can you do the daily mile?

10:40 - 11:00 - Assembly

11:00 - 12:00

To start the session, let's complete

  • the next arithmetic sheet
  • then, from calculations last week when solving percentages of an amount, it was evident that most have the method/steps secure, but fall down when practising the column multiplication method - as this is where errors were being made!

Let's whizz through this and make sure you understand the basics first:

First step with multiplication - 4-digits X by 1-digit.

Complete questions from ppt in your maths books.

Then compete the sheets below for your group.

Time for lunch!

Enjoy the fresh air - keep active.

Eat up all your lunch and keep hydrated.

1:00 - 2:00

Your group/pair will need:

straws - box of art straws

paper and pens - to draw an arrow/image

drinking glasses - from staff room

small jugs - from the maths cupboard

Write up your notes, observations and reflections in your non-fiction book (green).

Don't forget to put a Sc in the top right corner of your page.

Underline the date, any titles and sub-headings.

Please stick in the success criteria sheet with your work.

2:00 - 3:00

After a quick 5 minute warm-up, try these quick tasks to help you get hockey-minded before you split into 4 teams and play 4 x 10mins each way games, swapping ends of the pitch halfway through each game - especially if the sun is out and one team is at a disadvantage.

Your adult will choose the teams.
